Ayaan Hirsi Ali

I've written, erased; rewritten, erased; saved, and erased this post about 300 times in three days. And after all of that, I've decided to let the words of Ayaan Hirsi Ali do the talking. She is indefinable by the Western media who called her left-wing, right-wing, conservative, liberal, along with every other obscure, pointless label you can imagine.** She not only exposes the terrible consequences and utter hypocrisy of an absolutist religion, but makes a complete mockery of the "tolerant" leftists who have become so open-minded their brains have fallen out.

In my opinion, she is the bravest woman living today.

Read the whole thing. And then read it again. The whole thing is vitally important, but one thing stood out to me when her response to the statement that "Muslims, like any religious community, should also be able to protect themselves against slander and insult."

She responds: "That's exactly the reflex I was just talking about: offering the other cheek. Not a day passes, in Europe and elsewhere, when radical imams aren't preaching hatred in their mosques. They call Jews and Christians inferior, and we say they're just exercising their freedom of speech. When will the Europeans realize that the Islamists don't allow their critics the same right? After the West prostrates itself, they'll be more than happy to say that Allah has made the infidels spineless."
