PAYASITA POLITICO

The call-them-as-I-see-them political thoughts of a 28 year old mom. WARNING: THIS BLOG CONTAINS STRONG POLITICAL OPINION COUPLED WITH SARCASM AND SATIRE. HOPEFULLY IT WILL OFFEND. NOT FOR PEOPLE WITH HEART, LIVER, OR KIDNEY PROBLEMS. OR METROSEXUALS.

I'm a crack-ho lazy mom who vacillates between feelings of inadequacy and delusions of grandeur. I am not bothered by kid snot, garlic breath or Bob Dylan's voice. But pinch me with your toes and I will probably kill you.

Liberal Sanctimony in LA...No Really.

This is an interesting little story. Apparently some anonymous (yet rich enough to have some time on their hands) architects, designers, and urban planners, known as "Heavy Trash," have embarked on a campaign against gated communities.

A quote from member, Jake: "We feel that gated communities are becoming popular at a very alarming rate, and that 10 to 20 years from now, people will realize that the gates are an anathema to a democratic, open society, and that they instead make for a more fearful society."

Is Jake on crack, or has he just soaked in sanctimony for too long?

If you were to substitute "gates" for "crime" the stupid little fucker might be on to something.

I know people who live in gated communities. By and large they are elderly. Not just old, ELDERLY. Sure there are a few pretentious, nouveau riche yuppies who have to keep their butt plug collections safe, but I prefer them living walled off from the rest of us and if they do it of their own free will, so much the better. It's what is known as a win/win situation. But the elderly have every right and every reason to protect themselves. They have accumulated wealth from their years of toil, and they are physically vulnerable.

These Heavy Trash morons could have donated that time making sure elderly folks who don't live in gated communities were safer in their own neighborhoods. But instead they have decided to spend time, money and effort erecting monuments to their own stupidity.

And this isn't the first time.

"... in 1997, Heavy Trash installed a 2,000-pound staircase providing temporary access to a park that city officials walled off to keep out the homeless."

Because children love to play with child-molesting drug addicts.

The gated community project is humorous, but this one makes me mad. When your ideals compromise the safety of children, it's time for some new ideals.
