The Passion
The controversy surrounding Mel Gibson's Passion of the Christ is mind-blowing. First of all, the charges of anti-Semitism, I believe, will be proven groundless. Anyone of a Jew-murdering bent probably will not understand Aramaic and Latin and most likely won't be able to read the subtitles fast enough to be moved to vengeance.
And secondly, why are these people complaining now? Its pretty damn insulting that some Jews think that I wouldn't be capable of watching a movie depicting the blameless suffering of a guiltless man who begs forgiveness for us all in his dying moments, without wanting to go out slit an innocent Jew's throat.
If Christians were so prone to spearing the Hebrews in their vital organs over media depictions of Christ, you'd think Jews would protest the "satires" and deroggations of Christ, by all media, on a daily basis. You'd think if anything would provoke the volatile, carniverous Christians into creating a second holocaust, it would be the constant insult to their religion. But no. God forbid you tell a story about the sacrifice of Christ. It is far better to portray him as a horny schizo surfer, Magdelene-screwing fag, than the Savior of Man.
Well I'm going to see The Passion. I may see it twice. And I'll try and restrain my Jew-murdering instincts as long as possible, but I make no promises.
